MM: 'I wanna be with you', Mandy Moore

Hoy toca una baladita en acústico, que es como más me gusta la música.

Descubrí a Mandy Moore gracias a la película 'Un paseo para recordar', la adaptación cinematográfica de una novela de Nicholas Sparks (un drama pero muy romántico y con el que siempre acabo llorando como una madalena, pero te deja un hermoso recuerdo).

Moore nació en New Hampshire, pero creció en Orlando, localidad ubicada en el estado norteamericano de Florida. Después de actuar en obras teatrales de carácter musical e interpretar el himno estadounidense en numerosos acontecimientos deportivos, lo que le llevó a ser conocida como la "Nacional Anthem Girl", Mandy logró penetrar a finales de la década de los 90 en el mercado de la música adolescente con su primer álbum de estudio, "So Real" el cual fue lanzado en diciembre de 1999.2 Esta placa tuvo gran aceptación hasta incluso ser invitada a la gira mundial de los Backstreet Boys. Al siguiente año el sencillo "Candy" fue una de las canciones más populares en la radio de Estados Unidos. En mayo de 2000 lanza su segundo álbum de estudio, el cual es una versión intenacional de si álbum debut, el disco llevo por nombre "I Wanna Be With You", que tuvo una gran respuesta entre el público.3 A mediados de 2001 lanza su tercer álbum de estudio, "Mandy Moore" el cual vendió más de 1 millón de copias a nivel mundial.4

La cantante consiguió debutar en el cine en el año 2001 poniendo voces a una osa en la película protagonizada por Eddie Murphy "Dr. Dolittle 2". Con posterioridad aparece junto a Julie Andrews en la comedia romántica de Garry Marshall, "The Princess Diaries" y co-protagoniza con Shane West la película "A Walk to Remember" en 2002.5 En octubre de 2003 salió su cuarta producción titulada "Coverage", en la cual se incluyen covers de los años 80 y 90. Su primer sencillo, "Have a Little Faith in Me", no fue bien recibido en los Estados Unidos.6

Luego de participar en alrededor de 15 películas, Mandy regresa a la actividad que la hizo famosa con una nueva producción, "Wild Hope", la primera en cuatro años, cuyo primer sencillo se titula "Extraordinary", el cual tiene un significado muy especial para la artista, ya que dijo que es una canción basada en ella misma, la más honesta que ha escrito.7

Dos años mas tarde, la prensa del corazón afirmó que Mandy se había casado con el cantante Ryan Adams. En ese momento, la artista lanza "Amanda Leigh", título que evoca a su nombre verdadero. El este disco, Mandy se despega del pop adolescente que la hizo famosa y comienza a liberarse artísticamente. “Amanda Leigh” habla sobre el amor y de encontrarse a sí mismo. Las canciones coquetean con timbres country folk hasta llegar totalmente al country, grabadas con instrumentación fina y precisa.

Mandy tiene un total de ventas de discos en Australia de más de 241,000 copias y se ubicó en el #281 en la tabla de 1.000 artistas de ARIA Música Decenio Gráficas (1980-2010).

La cancion Don't Stand So Close To Me del cantante The Police esta incluida en el disco Zeniatta Mondatta editado en el 1980.

He de decir que el gusto por este tipo de música he de agradecérselo a mis paternos, así como a mi hermano. Bueno, también a los anuales viajes al pueblo durante mi infancia, en los que se escuchaba constantemente Dire Straits, The Poline, Sting y Mark Knofler. Y aunque la posesión de un walkman me amenizó los viajes (así podía escuchar a Madonna, bandas sonoras de dibujos primero y más tarde de films como 'Romeo y Julieta'), he de reconocer que es de agradecer poder tener un cierto oído musical con gustos muy variados.

Para quienes no conocen a The Police, y sirviéndome de mi amadísima Wikipedia, resulta que la banda fue una de las más importantes del rock de los años 80s. Su estilo estaba marcado por influencias del rock, reggae y jazz.

The Police nació en el año 1977, y tocaron oficialmente hasta marzo de 1984 (y se dice oficialmente porque, por lo visto, nunca emitieron un comunicado oficial acerca de su disolución).

El grupo estaba formada por Sting (voz y bajo), Andy Summers (guitarra y coros) y Stewart Copeland (batería y coros).

Casi me olvido de que ¡HOY ES MIÉRCOLES Y TOCA MÚSICA!

Esta vez toca añgo marchosillo pero no actual, aunque ha vuelto a mi lista de reproducción del iPod gracias al film 'Algo prestado' / 'Something Borrowed'.

WHAT ABOUT 'PUSH IT'?

" Push It "es una canción del grupo Salt-N-Pepa, que vio la luz el 9 de marzo de 1987. La canción muestra influencias de la canción de The Kinks 'You Really Got Me'. La frase "La danza no es para todos, sólo la gente sexy" hace referencia claramente a la canción 'The Bird' de The Time.

"Push It" ha sido muy versionada, dando lugar a versiones muy distintas ideales para movel el esqueleto. Ésta ocupa el puesto 440 en la revista Rolling Stone ' s, en la lista de las 500 mejores canciones de todos los tiempos . Y ocupó, nada más y nada menos que el puesto número 9 en 100 VH1 mejores canciones de Hip Hop. No está mal, no?

Salt-N-Pepa era una formación femenina de hip hop de Queens, Nueva York, que se formó en 1985.

El grupo, integrado por Cheryl James ("Salt", ahora Cheryl Wray), Sandra Denton ("Pepa"), y Deidra "Dee Dee" Roper (Spinderella), ha vendido más de 15 millones de discos en todo el mundo y singles.

Salt-N-Pepa es, hasta la fecha, el trío que ha vendido más rap femenino, además de contar con que seis de sus singles han sido disco de platino o de oro en los Estados Unidos por la RIAA.

Aun recuerdo la primera vez que escuché a Natasha Bedingfield. Más tarde, me maravillé con uno de sus vídeos, en el que interpreta una de mis canciones favoritas: 'Bruise Easily'.

Hace poco que tengo el último disco (creo), Strip Me, motivada por uno de sus temas de una película de la que apenas he hablado: 'Algo prestado? (ajjajajajaja, me he quedado contigo, eh?).

MM: '7 days', The Butterfly Effect

Como este miércoles pasado no pude colgar la canción de la semana, lo hago hoy domingo. Esta vez, una canción que me encanta. Bueno, como es lógico todas las que pongo en el blog me gustan, pero ésta me parece muy inspiradora, tiene fuerza y... es como si te empujara hacia adelante, ¿no crees?

What about 'The Butterfly Effect'?

¿Y no estaría nada mal saber algo de esta banda, no? Pues bien, The Butterfly Effect es una banda australiana de art rock y metal alternativo, fundada en Brisbane en 1999. Sus componentes son Clint Boge (cantante), Ben Hall (batería), Glenn Esmond (bajista) y Kurt "Puddles" Goedhart (guitarrista). La promoción de su álbum debut se vio ayudada por la influyente emisora de radio australiana Triple J.

The Butterfly Effect EP
The Butterfly Effect publicó su disco homónimo en el año 2001, y fue gracias a la emisión de sus canciones a través de la emisora Triple J que alcanzaron la fama en su país. 2002 fue un año de constantes giras, y sus ventas siguieron creciendo, superando las 10.000 copias vendidas.
A mediados de 2002 el grupo había alcanzado lo más alto de las listas independientes, permaneciendo entre los veinte primeros durante casi un año.

Begins Here
En noviembre de 2002 editaron "Crave", el primer sencillo de su álbum debut, Begins here, que se publicó en 2003. Este sencillo comenzó en las listas ARIA en el puesto 59, aunque consiguió la primera posición en las listas independientes. La temática del álbum profundiza en el álter ego, la vulnerabilidad, los abusos, la resurrección, el abandono y los juegos de poder. El álbum salió a la venta en agosto de 2003, escalando posiciones desde la 24 de las listas ARIA hasta la 1ª en las listas independientes. Además, se mantuvo en las listas durante 56 semanas y llegó a vender más de 30.000 copias.
La banda comenzó a hacerse conocida en Europa, con menciones en los medios, como por ejemplo en Metal Hammer, Rock Sound, Classic rock, Kerrang! y Aardshock. En agosto de 2004 realizaron una gira de seis semanas por Alemania, Austria, Suiza, República Checa, Países Bajos y Reino Unido. De septiembre de noviembre de ese año dieron treinta y dos conciertos en cuarenta días. Las ventas superaron las 10.000 copias en Europa y, además, el grupo se dio a conocer en Sudáfrica.
A lo largo de 2005 The Butterfly Effect grabó un nuevo sencillo titulado "Phoenix", que se editó en septiembre, acompañado de un videoclip. En octubre y en noviembre fueron de gira por Australia y tocaron temas del que sería su próximo álbum, Imago, publicado en Australia en junio de 2006.

Imago es su segundo álbum de estudio. Salió a la venta el 17 de junio de 2006, unos meses después de la finalización de su grabación a principios de año. Debutó en las listas ARIA en la segunda posición y poco después, en julio, la banda inició la gira "Imago" por Australia. Por entonces, su primer álbum, Begins Here, estaba a punto de publicarse en Estados Unidos por la discográfica Megaforce Records.
Tres años después de su publicación, a mediados de 2006, Begins Here recibió la certificación de oro en Australia, tras haber sobrepasado las 35.000 unidades. Poco después Imago consiguió la misma certificación, aunque sólo habían pasado ocho semanas desde su publicación.

Final Conversation of Kings
Tras al edición de Imago, The Butterfly Effect pasó el resto del año de gira promocionando su álbum, incluyendo una actuación en el festival Big Day Out de 2007. Enseguida comenzaron a trabajar en preparar material para un nuevo álbum. En julio de 2007 llevaron a cabo el Tour In A Memory, con Chevelle, de Chicago, y la prometedora banda Dead Letter Circus, también de Brisbane. En esta gira sonaron por primera vez temas del siguiente álbum, como "7 Days" y "Rain". A comienzo de 2008 anunciaron el Home Alone Tour para rellenar tiempo antes de la grabación de Final Conversation of Kings, que comenzaría en marzo de 2008. En el Home Alone Tour dieron a conocer más canciones nuevas del próximo álbum, por ejemplo "In These Hands" y ""Hidden".
Finalmente Final Conversation of Kings salió al público en Australia el 20 de septiembre de 2008. Monaux hizo tanto el arte de portada como el del libreto del álbum, que saltó en las listas ARIA hasta el puesto n.º 3. El primer sencillo, "Window and the Watcher" se emitió por primera vez en Triple J el 14 de julio y se puso a la venta más tarde, el 23 de agosto. Luego de la publicación del álbum The Butterfly Effect salió de gira por Australia durante octubre y noviembre, con Trial Kennedy y Sleep Parade como teloneros.

Cover of You Can DanceHoy mi día oficial musical lo dedico a mi cantante favorita por exvcelencia: Madonna. Aun conservo el primer cassette de ese LP con carátula roja titulado 'You Can Dance'. El walkman el pobre pasó a mejor historia , pero siempre ha sido una buena compañera de trayectos, desde el asiento de pasajera a cuando ya me saqué el carné de conducir.

Pues sí, la reina del Pop, el camaleón que se adapta a todas las tendencias y que por ello admiro (no entraré en su vida personal, jejejeje), a ella le dedico mi miércoles musical.

'Defying Gravity', Wicked

Ya lo he dicho muchas veces, y quien me conoce sabe mi buen recuerdo de mi primer viaje a Londres, una ciudad que ya me tenía ganado el corazón antes de pisarla, y que me me robó el alma al dejarla con un HASTA PRONTO.

Lisa Jane Stansfield (Mánchester, 11 de abril de 1966), es una cantante inglesa de pop independiente, centrada en un público adulto y sofisticado, con aproximaciones constantes a la música dance y de club.

Antes de iniciar su carrera en solitario, fue la vocalista del grupo The Blue Zone con éxitos como "Jackie" o "Big thing" y posteriormente colaboró en el disco de Coldcut,con el sencillo People Hold On" en 1988. Entró de lleno en la popularidad con Affection en 1989, disco de platino con más de 5.000.000 de copias vendidas que incluía sus éxitos "All Around the World" (Mejor canción internacional del año) y "This is the right time". Tanto este disco como el siguiente, Real Love, están fuertemente influenciados por el sonido disco y Motown de los años 70 de Barry White (arreglos, ritmo e, incluso, la técnica de Stansfield). What about Joshua Radin?

Radin comenzó su carrera artística a temprana edad en Cleveland, Ohio, la ciudad donde creció. Radin se graduó en la Universidad de Northwestern en Dibujo y Pintura.

La primera grabación de Radin fue una demo de la canción Winter producida por el cantautor Cary Brothers. Cuando un amigo cercano, el actor y director de cine Zach Braff escuchó la demo de Winter se interesó tanto por ella que la introdujo en su serie Scrubs en el episodio My screw up a principios de 2004. La canción recibió una acogida abrumadoramente positiva lo que facilitó a Radin calar en la audiencia de la serie. Las canciones Today, Closer, Don't look away y These photographs también aparecieron en la serie.

Desde entonces las canciones de Radin se han podido escuchar en series como Bones, Cinco hermanos, Anatomía de Grey, One Tree Hill, Lead ballon o Studio 60 on the sunset strip y en programas como American Idol.

Su canción One star mile fue parte de la banda sonora de la película El último beso. What if you, otra de sus canciones, también apareció en la banda sonora de una película. En este caso, en la de Las vueltas de la vida (Catch and release en su título original).

Joshua Radin ha aparecido en numerosos programas de las diferentes cadenas estadounidenses como The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, Carson Daly and CBS Early Show. Hay que añadir también un cameo en la película Garden State de Zach Braff, en España se tituló Algo en común.

Ha compartido gira y escenario con los siguientes cantantes: Tori Amos, Sheryl Crow, Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles, KT Tunstall, Cary Brothers, Imogen Heap, Butch Walker, Meiko y Missy Higgins.

Una vez capturada la atención del público, Radin decidió mantenerla lanzando su álbum debut We were here en junio de 2006 a través de Columbia Records. El disco estuvo primero disponible en iTunes donde alcanzó el puesto de álbum de folk más vendido.

Maria Taylor comenzó su carrera musical a la edad de quince años en la banda de Little Red Rocket, que lanzó dos discos en Geffen-Who Did You Pay (1997) and It's in the Sound (2000). El grupo se disolvió durante la fusión de Geffen con Universal Music Group. Después, Taylor se trasladó a Atenas, Georgia, junto con su colaborador musical, Orenda Fink. Allí, formaron la banda de Azure Ray. La pareja firmó para Warm, y lanzaron su debut homónimo, así como su segundo álbum, Burn and Shiver. El dúo luego se trasladó a Omaha, NE, donde ha publicado dos adicionales en Saddle Creek, November EP, y su último álbum, Hold on Love. ¡Hola!

De nuevo en el miércoles musical. Esta vez, una recomendación de Carlota :D He escuchado desde que me sugeriste el grupo bastantes canciones, y hoy, que ya es mitad de semana, me quedo con una algo más pausada, aunque ¡¡¡ESTÁ GENIAL!!! ¿Has escuchado 30 Seconds to Mars? ¡Puede que te gusten!

Biografía de Breaking Benjamin

A fines del año 2000 nace la formación definitiva de Breaking Benjamin cuyos integrantes: Aaron Fink (guitarrista), Mark James Klepaski (bajista), Jeremy Hummel (baterista) y Ben Burnley (cantante, compositor y guitarrista) combinan sus influencias, que van desde el grunge hasta el metal alternativo; y cuyo resultado es un agresivo y al mismo tiempo melódico sonido que, unido a las virtudes vocales de su cantante, se transforma en una de las promesas del rock del nuevo milenio.

Todo comienza cuando el guitarrista Aaron Fink y el bajista Mark James Klepaski abandonan el grupo "Lifer", que ya contaba con un contrato discográfico con el sello Universal, para unirse al cantante, compositor y guitarrista Ben Burnley y al baterista Jeremy Hummel, en una propuesta que deciden llamar "Breaking Benjamin".

Originarios del pueblo de Wilkes-Barre en Pennsylvania, es precisamente con la ayuda de un locutor de una estación de radio local que logran darse a conocer, grabar un EP homónimo de cinco canciones y luego firmar con Hollywood Records.

Ulrich Wild produce su primer álbum, titulado "Saturate", editado en el mes de agosto del 2002.

Dos años después regresan con "We Are Not Alone", grabado entre octubre del 2003 y enero del 2004 con la producción de David Bendeth. El disco cuenta con la participación del ex vocalista y guitarrista de The Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, en el tema "Forget It"; y de él cual se desprenden los sencillos "So Cold" y "Sooner Or Later".

En agosto del 2006 el grupo reaparece con "Phobia".

'Tainted Love' es una canción originalmente escrita por Ed Cobb, del grupo The Four Peps, grabada en 1964 para Gloria Jones y que obtiene popularidad mundial luego que el grupo Soft Cell la lanzara como cover. El raro de Marilyn Manson lanza su propia versión en el 2002 como el primer single de la banda sonora de la película Not Another Teen Movie. La canción luego se incluiría como bonus track en su siguiente disco, The Golden Age Of Grotesque.

¿Quién es Jessie James?

Jessica nació en una base militar en Italia en 1988. James y su familia volvieron a Georgia poco después. Más adelante ella grabó su primer demo, el cual llegó a oídos del presidente del sello "Mercury Records", firmó contrato con dicho sello y se preparó para grabar su disco debut junto a la reconocida compositora Kara DioGuardi.

El primer single de su álbum se tituló 'Wanted', y fue publicado el 12 de abril de 2009, coincidiendo con el 21º cumpleaños de la artista. Su canción 'Blue Jeans' formó parte de la banda sonora de la película 'Confessions of a Shopaholic'.

En junio de 2009 anunció que sería la encargada de abrir los shows del Tour de los Jonas Brothers. Su disco debut, 'Jessie James', vio la luz el 11 de agosto de 2009, posicionándose en el puesto 23 en Billboard Hot 100 con ventas superiores a 20.500 copias.
